  • ORAPHARMA, DBA for a Call Tracking System deployed on Palm VIIx handheld devices. Responsible for synchronization of data between Palm devices and SQL Server.   • NEW YORK PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL, Technical Lead and Senior Developer for a team that created a web application for the data capture and data extraction and reporting of cardiac procedures.  Developed in ASP, JScript, VBScript, XML, Crystal Reports and SQL Server.Technical Lead and Senior Developer for a team that created a web application for the data capture and reporting for an Emergency Department. Specifically, the system captured patient demographic and clinical information as well as integrating Cerner lab data provided in HL7 format. Developed in ASP, JScript, VBScript, COM+, MSMQ, VB, Crystal Reports and SQL Server.
  • MEDCOST, Technical Lead for the reengineering of a PPO management system from a Visual FoxPro system to a three-tier VB-MTS-SQL Server system.  Major portion of system was a HIPAA compliant claims database handling HCFA 1500 and UB 92 claims. Wrote System Architecture document, User Interface Design document and Business Layer Design document. Conducted design reviews and code reviews.Developed middle-tier components and stored procedures. Accelerated development by developing code generation utilities that created middle-tier classes, stored procedures, and application code for calling the stored procedures.
  • PILOT AIR FREIGHT, Technical Lead and Senior Analyst for team of 20 on a $3M reengineering of a VAX financial system to an n-tier VB-MTS-SQL Server on Windows NT 4.0 system. Requirements, business rules, etc. were extracted from the existing source code.Gathered requirements and wrote Functional Requirements Specification and Detailed Design documents. Conducted design reviews and code reviews.Designed and developed client UI and batch applications as well as middle-tier business components.
  • HOECHST MARION ROUSSEL, Designed and developed customizations for the Global Submission Development and Approval (GSDA) system. GSDA is a Documentum-based application that enables users to copy, edit, review, and approve submission-related documents in a globally accessible and secure storage area. The system also supports electronic assembly and publishing using ESPS CoreDossier. Implemented a Drug Dictionary maintenance utility; batch print facility; custom find and query utility; document status change function; and edit user profile function. Developed the installation script and supported User Acceptance Testing at the client site. Development was performed using Documentum, Visual Basic, Installshield Express, and ActiveX components in a Windows NT environment.
  • SMITH KLINE BEECHAM, Lead Developer on the re-engineering of a LIMS system that supports studies for the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics department. System was developed as a VB to Oracle client server system using RDO for data access.Responsible for the development of business components such as Study Management, Assay Management, Sample Management, and Dataset Selection. Designed and implemented significant portions of the application's architecture using class modules to provide user interface services, windows services, application services, and logging services.
LEAD CONSULTANT
  • HELLER FINANCIAL, Developed a Visual Basic utility program to support a network migration effort. The application opened and examined Windows Shortcut files for pathnames that qualified for migration and replaced the outdated path designations with the new path server/share names. The application utilized the Desaware OCX control suite.
  • DOCUMENT CONVERSION ASSOCIATES, Document Conversion Associates is a value-added reseller (VAR) integrating an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system with an existing Key From Image claims processing system for Aetna US Healthcare. The system accepts scanned images of HCFA 1500 forms (Medicare Claim Forms) and extracts and processes the data.  DCA adds custom programs to off-the-shelf software that manages the workflow through the system and report on status and statistics. The system was deployed in several regional centers nation-wide.  Wrote multiple Visual Basic programs to control the workflow process and gather statistics. Tested applications. Wrote installation scripts with InstallShield. Access to databases used DAO and RDO. The OCR application ran in a client-server environment with a Windows 95 platform, and the database ran on a NT platform.
  • AETNA US HEALTHCARE HDIC, Development Database Administrator (DBA), developer, and tester for an enhancement to an existing US Healthcare system. The system enabled healthcare providers to submit claims, referrals, and encounters information to US Healthcare, and to receive member and eligibility information electronically. The enhancement enabled concurrent use of two database formats and increased the number of provider offices able to use the electronic system. Revised application and ancillary systems to enable the common code base to use Watcom SQL or Microsoft SQL Server transparently. Provided numerous innovative solutions in a variety of dual-database problem areas, including data type discrepancies, open database connectivity (ODBC) statement and connection handle allocation, database-specific function calls, non-ANSI standard SQL, and interaction between Crystal Reports and the databases.
  • FIRST CONSULTING GROUP, Rewrote several network utility programs. The utilities were designed to capture and report on statistics of server disk utilization in a scheduled batch mode. Used API calls to connect to the various servers to gather the disk statistics. MAPI controls were used to automatically send results to MIS management. Development was performed using Visual Basic 4.0 on Windows NT servers.
  • COVALENT RESEARCH ALLIANCE, Designed and developed several data entry applications for the capture and tracking of pharmaceutical study results. Designed user interface, database tables and queries, and coded validation rules. Development was performed using Microsoft Access in a Windows for Workgroups environment.

  • MCTS, Developed enhancements to an existing client-server transaction processing system, which was designed to capture and report marketing campaign costs and reconcile them with the general ledger. Performed maintenance and error corrections to Oracle7 stored procedures and graphical user interface (GUI) revisions using PowerBuilder 3.0. Analyzed, developed, tested, and documented code.
  • LTC PRICING, Designed and developed a client-server DSS. The system supported the actuarial department in trending, pricing, and reporting activities for long term care products. Used PowerBuilder 3.0 to create the user interface and encapsulate business rules. Designed and created tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures. Responsible for business analysis, prototyping, coding, testing, documentation, and production support. Development was performed as a front-end system using an Oracle7 database running on Windows NT.
  • VANTAGE, Integrated a vendor mainframe transaction processing system into Prudential legacy systems. The system was intended to support contract administration activities for annuity contracts. Performed analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.
